Engineering students have a 98% placement rate

30 in the nation as ranked by U.S. News and World Report 2018

Students in the T.J. Smull College of Engineering at Ohio Northern are improving our world by finding new ways to design, build and use technology. We’re ranked among the top 50 undergraduate engineering schools in the nation, and our engineering education major is one of the first of its kind. Students at ONU receive experiential, hands-on learning in small-classroom settings with dedicated, accessible professors. Our model starts with people, and we build educational experiences around the individual needs of each. Beyond analytical skills, we embrace the human skills our students need as professionals and as people – how to communicate successfully, develop personal relationships and effectively lead a team. Explore our website to learn more about our high-impact engineering and computer science programs.

You have to go outside the classroom to truly learn.

100% Placement in Optional Co-op ProgramStudents in the T.J. Smull College of Engineering know that once applied, math and science can be the most exciting fields to be in. Where else would you be able to battle a football-kicking robot against Notre Dame? Or construct a dune buggy from the ground up that’s built to drive through mud and fly through the air?

The foundation of engineering and computer science is action. And here, you’ll be able to put into practice everything you learn. You can work to build a concrete canoe that defies logic and floats like a feather. To get out in the community with EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service) and make a difference. With nationally recognized faculty and distinguished speakers helping to round out your experience, this is a place where theory and practice come together in ways that are sometimes unexpected, sometimes surprising, but always fun and exciting.

87% Passing Score on the Fundamentals of Engineering ExamYou’ll work closely with professors and enjoy many leadership opportunities within a collaborative, yet supportive, environment. And co-op learning programs and internships give you the opportunity to gain the real-world experience needed for your future success.
