Message from the Dean

The Getty College of Arts & Sciences educates the artists, musicians, writers, doctors, teachers and scientists of the future. Our college encompasses a wide range of studies in the liberal and fine arts, sciences, and pre-professional programs. Students work directly with faculty in small classroom environments to obtain strong theoretical foundations. Our mission is to prepare students for graduate programs, professional studies and employment, and a life of learning and independent thinking. I look forward to welcoming you to campus!

Center for Teacher Education

The Center for Teacher Education provides a pathway to teaching excellence. We equip you with the knowledge, skills and cultural understanding to be a successful teacher in any setting. You’ll benefit from small classes, individualized attention, and extensive opportunities to observe and teach in the real world starting your first year on campus. You can opt for a traditional education degree (Early Childhood Education or Middle Childhood Education) or a degree in one of 12 content areas with licensure to teach that subject. School of Health and Behavioral Sciences

The School of Health and Behavioral Sciences prepares you to become a highly skilled and compassionate health care professional. Our programs provide a strong foundation in the sciences combined with practical, hands-on experiences. Starting your first year on campus, you’ll spend a lot of time in the lab engaging in experiments and simulations. You’ll work with real patients and lab samples, learning how to think on your feet and refining skills in problem-solving, communication and teamwork. In addition, you’ll find abundant opportunities for community service, research, travel and involvement in student organizations. School for the Humanities and Global Cultures

The School for the Humanities and Global Cultures produces thinkers and doers who become leaders in society. Our programs provide a solid foundation in research and writing. You’ll also develop critical thinking skills as you explore the big questions facing the human experience. Add classes in foreign languages (Spanish, French and/or Arabic) to better prepare you in today's global economy. On campus, you’ll interact closely with your professors, who will encourage you to tackle special projects. You’ll have opportunities for internships, study abroad and research. In addition, you may find yourself planning campus events or leading a student organization. Upon graduation, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to forge a successful career in the field of your choice. School of Science, Technology, and Mathematics

The School of Science, Technology, and Mathematics emphasizes rigorous academics combined with hands-on experience in the field. You’ll explore your subject area in-depth through research projects, networking, internships and field work. In addition, you’ll have the chance to lead student organizations and participate in regional and national competitions. Your professors will encourage you inside and outside the classroom and open doors for your future. Upon graduation, you’ll be ready to hit the ground running in your first job or graduate school. School of Social Sciences and Human Interaction

The School of Social Sciences and Human Interaction delivers a world-class education that blends theory and research with hands-on practical experience. Here you'll choose interests of study in communication, multimedia, criminal justice, sociology, geography, political science, public policy and more. Community engagement is a hallmark of our program. As a student, you’ll have opportunities to engage in internships, research experiences and special projects in local, national and international communities. You’ll interact with professionals in the real world at media organizations, government agencies and nonprofits. Your professors will encourage you to step outside your comfort zone, and they’ll support your ambitions 100 percent. Upon graduation, you’ll be ready for a challenging career working toward the betterment of society and the human condition. The School of Visual and Performing Arts provides a conservatory-style education in the artistic fields. Our small size means you’ll receive individualized attention to fully develop your talent. You will be taught and mentored by esteemed professors who will open doors for you. In addition, you’ll engage in master classes and workshops with world-renowned guest artists. We also provide abundant opportunities to hone your skills through exhibits, ensembles, performances, research, national and international travel, and student organizations.
