ENGINEERING EDUCATION COURSES, CURRICULUM & PROGRAM RESOURCES

The Bachelor of Science in Engineering Education is a 129-credit hour program that combines a strong foundation in science, math, and engineering with specialized coursework in education theory and student teaching. From exploring calculus and physics to electric circuits and engineering methods for the classroom, you gain technical knowledge and essential analytical and problem-solving skills.

You also take courses in educational psychology, assessment, and instructional design, along with others, to deepen your pedagogical knowledge and equip you to teach with confidence and creativity.

To help personalize your degree, you have 23 credit hours for elective classes, which you can use to pursue courses or a minor that aligns with your passions and explore additional specializations and skill sets.

  • You’ll learn to communicate with clarity, infuse creativity into your curricula, and craft engaging design projects and activity plans to ignite middle and high school students’ passion for engineering. Along the way, you build a versatile skill set required for every teacher and engineer, rooted in:

    ●    Engineering principles
    ●    Problem-solving
    ●    Communication
    ●    Teamwork
    ●    Design thinking
    ●    Ethical responsibilities of engineers
    ●    Teaching

  • The engineering education bachelor’s degree program curriculum includes six field experience classes, in which you acquire practical engineering and teaching skills in real-world situations. In your senior year, you dive headfirst into teaching at a local middle or high school to strengthen your competency as an aspiring educator. You also participate in a capstone project, where you design an engineering solution with your fellow students.

  • The engineering education bachelor’s degree program typically takes four years to complete. If you choose to participate in co-op, you will graduate in five years. Co-op empowers you to gain professional experience and earn a paycheck before graduation. You may work at consulting firms, manufacturing sites, tech companies, or educational institutions.
