CS + X Program Curriculum & Program Resources

Through your academic journey, you’ll master several computer programming languages and learn how to creatively apply this knowledge to devise solutions in any industry. CS+X is your main degree program, and your home is the College of Engineering. However, you are required to declare another major or minor in a field you’re passionate about.

You'll need 126 credit hours to earn your Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science + X. A second major or minor is required for this degree.

It offers more than 10,000 square feet of large-scale project and design space for capstones, competitive design projects, and other direct industry engagement. Immerse Yourself in Our On-Campus Engineering Community

  • Join your fellow ONU engineering students and start designing multiple robotic football players. You build players in all positions — quarterbacks, centers, linemen, running backs, wide receivers, and a kicker — and compete in an annual robotics football matchup against undergraduate engineering students from a national network of schools.

  • ONU’s chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon is an honorary organization that recognizes outstanding talent in computer science. Our group also promotes scholarship and encourages individual contributions to society through computing science.

  • Become a member of ONU’s Phi Sigma Rho chapter. Created for women in engineering or engineering technology, but open to all, this group cultivates a sisterhood that upholds the highest standard of personal integrity, strives for academic excellence, and builds friendships that last a lifetime.
     

  • This professional organization promotes the advancement and exchange of information in computing. As a member, you have access to the latest publications and online resources to stay up-to-date in the fast-paced and ever-changing world of computing.

  • SWE is a professional organization open to all engineers dedicated to raising awareness of the need for more female engineers and encouraging young women to consider majoring in engineering. ONU’s chapter provides support for its female students and hosts social activities.

  • The admission process is streamlined at ONU, and you can start your journey by:
    ●    Completing your online application
    ●    Submitting official transcripts

    ACT and SAT scores are not required.

  • Both the Computer Science major and the CS + X major help you build a robust foundation in computer science and refine your technical skills for a thriving career; however, they are distinct in their approaches.

    The CS + X is a Bachelor of Arts program with a strong interdisciplinary focus and a more streamlined approach to computer science concepts. This program incorporates dedicated elective credits throughout the curriculum, allowing you to tailor your degree to also include a specific area like business, art, or social science.

    Alternatively, the BS in Computer Science program offers more advanced, specialized CS courses and a greater emphasis on math and science requirements, making it a more technical, in-depth course of study.
