Select from a variety of courses for both non-science and science majors including chemistry and biochemistry and work toward a B.S. or a B.A. The department offers both a basic program and an ACS-approved program in chemistry and biochemistry. Students in physics, biology or pharmacy can earn a chemistry minor.

The Mathile Center for the Natural Sciences is a student-centered academic research and learning facility that blends hands-on teaching excellence with advanced technology in a functional modern environment.

Graduates are highly successful in pursuing career paths in medicine, research, industry, forensics or environmental science. Alumni are employed at companies such as Eli Lilly, Proctor and Gamble, Cooper Tire & Rubber, Exxon-Mobil, Lubrizol and Sherwin-Williams. Our students attend graduate school at universities such as the University of Chicago, University of Illinois, Cornell University, Northwestern University, University of New Mexico, University of Wisconsin, Ohio State University, Penn State University, and MIT. Finally, our students have also recently been accepted to or earned medical degrees from Ohio State University, Optometry; Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine; Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine; University of Cincinnati College of Medicine; University of Cincinnati, Pharmacy; Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine; and the Ohio State University College of Dentistry.
