A volunteer painting during ACE Day in Ada, Ohio.

Ohio Northern University is currently registering organizations, businesses and residents for its annual Ada Community Engagement (ACE) Day to be held on Saturday, Aug. 21, from 9 a.m. to noon.

A partnership with the village of Ada, the ACE Day program provides opportunities for ONU’s first-year students to not only engage with the community but also contribute to the village’s beautification. Students will take part in one-hour shifts (9-10 a.m., 10-11 a.m., and 11a.m.-noon)

An "ACE site” is any community organization, business or individual that has a need and would be willing to provide a service project for ONU students. The types of service opportunities could range from painting, landscaping and planting trees to cleaning, washing fire trucks, decorating and cooking. The ACE site is responsible for providing all materials, tools and directions for how the project is to be carried out as well as supervision during the project. ACE sites should plan accordingly to fill the one-hour time period for volunteers with the option to have a two- or three-hour site.

Registration forms will be accepted through Monday, Aug. 2. Registration forms and additional information can be found at onu.edu/aceday. If you have additional questions, please contact onuaceday@onu.edu or 419-772-2200.
