Concentration

The clinical/counseling psychology concentration is designed for students who are interested in a career helping people from diverse backgrounds who are experiencing life stress and mental health concerns. Students will learn about psychological theories; careers in mental health care; and psychological disorders. They will develop skills to communicate effectively with others and delve deeper into multicultural issues. Courses including Psychology of Personality; Introduction to Clinical Psychology; Abnormal Psychology; Child Psychology; and Multicultural Psychology. In addition, students will have the opportunity to assist ONU professors with innovative research in the areas of multicultural psychology and developmental psychopathology. This concentration is best suited for students who want to pursue a graduate degree in social work, clinical psychology, or counseling. After graduate school, students often pursue careers as therapists or licensed psychologists.
