3+2 MSW Program

We’ve teamed up with Case Western Reserve University to offer students the chance to complete a master’s degree in social work in just five years. Here’s how the program works:

·       You major in psychology at ONU with a general or clinical/counseling concentration and work to complete either a Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Science degree. We’ve worked out the plan for you - you just choose your route! Check out the curriculum section for more details.

·       In just three years, you complete your undergraduate work at ONU—90 hours of coursework that includes all general education and psychology major requirements.

·       By the end of your junior year, you must apply to, and be accepted by, Case Western Reserve University into their MSW program. Early admission requires that you have an excellent academic record, completed the necessary coursework with Registrar approval, and earned a GPA of 3.2 or higher. Case Western Reserve University is recognized for having one of the best social work graduate programs in the U.S.

·       Your general education elective coursework for the undergraduate program is moved to your senior year, which is effectively your first year at Case Western. So, your first year of coursework at Case in their MSW program will count for those elective hours.

·       After 5 years of study (3 at ONU, 2 at Case Western) you will have earned  your Bachelor of Arts or Science in psychology from Ohio Northern University and a master’s degree in social work from Case Western Reserve University.
