Ohio Northern University will host the 9th annual Ohio Pharmacy Resident Conference, to be held virtually on Friday, May 21. The event, which allows pharmacy residents to present their research in a structured, juried environment, represents one of only a handful of regional residency conferences held throughout the United States. The event is hosted each year by ONU’s Raabe College of Pharmacy.

The conference’s presentation schedule reflects the wide diversity of pharmacy practice, the positive impact on the population, and the profession’s innovative nature. For instance, presentations will focus on topics such as mobile health for underserved patients with Type 2 diabetes who use urban supermarket-based community pharmacies; an examination of ambulatory pharmacy services applied to older adults at an epilepsy clinic; and the effectiveness and feasibility of a pharmacist-led, culturally tailored smoking cessation program for transgender and gender diverse patients.

According to ONU Pharmacy Dean Steve Martin, PharmD, more than 300 participants have registered, including residents and preceptors. The event is organized by Michael Rush, PharmD, ONU HealthWise and Pharmacy Residency Programs Director and assistant clinical professor of pharmacy practice, and the OPRC Steering Committee.
