Oct 16: Deborah Yoder, “Oak Flat: An Invitation to Reconnecting with God in Creation,” 5 pm. in English Chapel.

Oak Flat is a sacred site to the Apache in Arizona, where Resolution Copper plans to open what will be one of the largest copper mines in the US. The dispute between the Apache and Resolution Copper has resulted in various legal cases. Yoder is the Communications Manager for the Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery, an organization that is providing support for the Apache through accompaniment at their occupation of Oak Flat. Yoder has visited the encampment at Oak Flat, so that she will be drawing from her personal experience there as well as information she has based on her work with the Coalition.
