grants

Students with financial need can receive federal, state and ONU grants. This is money that does not need to be paid back!  Every year ONU awards more than $3.5 million in grants to ONU students. Need is the only requirement for these awards, and students are automatically considered based on the FAFSA application. In addition to these general grants, below are specific federal, state and ONU grants that students may quality for.

ONU Grants

Methodist Crusade Grant
Need-based awards made to students who are members of an Ohio United Methodist Church.

State Grants

Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG)
Administered by the Ohio Department of Higher Education for Ohio students with a high level of financial need.

Federal Grants

Pell Grant
This federal grant uses financial need, the cost of the university you are attending, and other factors to determine the amount you can receive.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
A grant for undergraduate students with exceptional need, administered by ONU’s financial aid office.

TEACH grant
This grant is for students who plan to become educators and work in a high-need school. However, students are required to fulfill their teaching obligation for a certain amount of time.
