College of Law to host talk on same-sex adoption law
Leading adoption law specialist Denise St. Clair will speak about same-sex adoption law at Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law on Thursday, March 24, at 11:30 a.m. in the Moot Court Room. The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
Free and open to the public, this event is sponsored by the ONU LAMBDA Law Students’ Association. The purpose of LAMBDA is to raise awareness of the legal issues surrounding lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered individuals.
St. Clair is the executive director of the National Center for Adoption Law and Policy (NCALP) at Capital University Law School. She has 20 years of legal experience, eight of which have been with the NCALP. As executive director, St. Clair oversees the research-based, educational and programmatic projects and initiatives contained within NCALP. These projects encompass all aspects of the law and policies governing adoption and child permanency issues. St. Clair also is a frequent presenter and trainer on child welfare issues for a wide variety of audiences.
After obtaining her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, where she was editor-in-chief of the law review as well as a member of the Brandeis Honor Society, St. Clair worked in a major law firm in Louisville, Ky., focusing on employment law.
