Kathleen E. DeVault
Kathleen E. DeVault graduated from the Ohio State University with a BA in Theatre and English. Before coming to ONU, she spent seven years in Massachusetts where she received her MFA in lighting and sound design from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. During the time, she was the resident lighting designer at Smith College and also did freelance lighting and sound designs for various companies in the area including Natarjii Dance Company, Chrysalis Theatre, New Century Theatre, the Drama Studio and Jelpua Theatre. At ONU, Kathe has designed lights for Suddenly Last Summer, Miss Julie, Children of Eden, Jekyll and Hyde, Magic Flute, Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Medea, Godspell, Tommy, Jazz Blues and Dance II and III, Carousel, Grease, and The Underpants and designed sound for Midsummer Night’s Dream, Medea and Assassins. She also did the scenic and lighting design for the Second and Eighth International Festival while doing the lighting designs for First – Eighth International Festival. Kathe has also designed lights for the Wellington School in Columbus, most recently lighting their original musical Tater Tots of Love at the Vern Riffe Center, Studio I. She also accompanied them to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to light their production of the Yellow Boat as well as the successive trip with Tater Tots of Love. Outside of theatre, Kathe has been a 4-H leader in Logan County for six years.
