PRSSA Students Receive Honorable Mention in National Competition
The Ohio Northern University team of Joe Clarkson, a sophomore from Huntingdon, Pa., Callie Crum, a senior from Cardington, Ohio, Tegan Ellis, a senior from Marion, Ohio, and Amanda McKelvey, a senior from Hammonton, N.J., received honorable mention in the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) 2010 Bateman Competition.
Working on a national public relations project to promote the 2010 census, the team researched, constructed and implemented a campaign titled “10 Minutes, 10 Questions, 10 Years.”
PRSSA headquarters received 68 entries for the 2010 competition. Of these submissions, 16 entries received honorable mention and three were chosen as finalists to present their campaigns in person to U.S. Census Bureau representatives in Washington, D.C.
Two ONU teams, part of a public relations class under the direction of Dr. Alisa Agozzino, visiting instructor in communication arts, took part in the competition for this year’s Bateman competition client, the U.S. Census Bureau. The Census Bureau used the competition as part of a larger effort to increase participation in the 2010 Census.
