Test performance influences student’s potential future success and is a determining factor on how others perceive them. Although several factors that may impact classroom performance have been examined the research has failed to explore the effects of proximity to other students and the displaying of score to others. Therefore, a 2 x 2 between subjects design was used to test these variables and there possible effects on participant performance on a standardized test. Results failed to indicate an effect of proximity or displaying of scores on participants ability to perform on the standardized test. This issue is important to maximize students’ ability to perform to their fullest potential because of its prevalence in academic achievement.
