Three ONU students help with Move-In Day 2022.

Ohio Northern University is excited to welcome new and returning students to campus for the start of the 2022-2023 academic year! Celebratory Welcome Week events for the entire campus community will begin on Wednesday with Move-In Day.

“Move-In Day is a tremendously important day at ONU and our staff has been working diligently making preparations to welcome the new students,” says Adriane Thompson-Bradshaw, Ph.D., vice president for student affairs. “We have a number of wonderful activities planned to get students acclimated to campus and help make their transition to college easier and it all starts with getting them moved into their new rooms.”

Schedule highlights are as follows:
·      Wednesday, Aug. 17, 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Move-In Day for first-year and undergraduate students.
·      Saturday, Aug. 20, 8 a.m. to noon: Ada Community Engagement Day (ACE Day), which engages incoming students with their college hometown by providing voluntary community service activities.
·      Monday, Aug. 22: Regular fall semester classes begin.

Additionally, traditional ONU Welcome Weekend activities will be offered for students, such as Greekapalooza, a Greek social opportunity for new students; and Welcome Fest, in which various campus organizations, offices, area businesses and organizations showcase opportunities that await students.

Campus safety protocols for COVID-19 will also be in effect for the return of the school year. Ohio Northern’s COVID-19 Safety Plan was updated on Aug. 5 to focus on a “return-to-campus implementation plan. It is strongly encouraged that people coming to campus be up to date on their vaccinations, including receiving booster doses as recommended by the CDC. The University is also strongly encouraging people to wear face coverings inside buildings.

President Melissa Baumann, Ph.D., who began her tenure on July 1, will be offering Move-In Day help and will be leading the ONU community through a strategic planning process this fall.
