Want help with your writing?
The Writing Center provides support for all writers at every stage of the writing process. Whether you are looking for another eye to read over your already polished work or struggling to get started on a writing assignment, our trained peer tutors can help you reach the goals that you set for your writing. We serve students in all majors and subject areas, so if you have a writing-related question, schedule a one-on-one tutoring session, send us an email, or stop by to write in the Writing Room.
One-on-One Tutoring Sessions
One-on-one tutoring sessions allow you to sit down with a trained peer tutor and receive feedback on your writing in a private setting. These 30-minute sessions aim to help you improve any aspect of your writing that you are concerned about and help to ensure that you are fully addressing the expectations of the assignment or genre you are writing. Your tutor's goal is not only to help you develop the current draft that you are working on, but also to help you understand the benefits of each suggestion so that you can keep improving your writing on your own in the future. write in the writing room - No appointment needed!
The Writing Center is not just a space for tutoring; it is also a space for writing. Join us every Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. to work on your writing in a supportive environment where a tutor is available to help you brainstorm, work through writer’s block, or answer questions that come up as you write. Just bring your laptop or other writing materials to the Writing Center and come prepared to write!
In addition, stop by the Writing Room any time to use our chalkboard walls and colored chalk to get a different perspective on your writing as you brainstorm, outline, or map out portions of your essay on the walls.
