ONU Physics students, alumni and faculty with Rowdy Raider at the Fall meeting of the Ohio-region Section of the American Physical Society at Wright State University. L to R: Mike ('08), Sonya, Brian, Craig, Lisa, Rowdy, Dr. Sheridan, Andrew, Dr. Caragiu, Chris ('08), Mitchell and Stephanie.
Our students receive a strong, in-depth education in classical and modern physics. Majors are well prepared to pursue further education in graduate or professional programs, including medical physics, for teaching in high school, or for positions in industry and government.
News
Physics major James Gallagher has been selected as a 2009 Goldwater Scholar by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Excellence in Education. Congratulations!
Research from the Dusty ONU experimenT (DONUT) on two-dimensional melting in dusty plasma has been selected for the Physics Update section of the December 2008 issue of Physics Today.
The Physics Department is now new and improved. As part of the Mathile project the physics department was remodeled during the summer of '08, creating a study lounge, a seminar room, and more research labs and offices. We also gained three laboratory rooms in Meyer Hall which will be used for introductory and advanced labs.
Department highlights
