Growth comes with hard work
Accounting major Breanna Hester knows growth comes from hard work and community support.
“One experience that helped me grow is failing statistics,” she admits. “As bad as that sounds, failing statistics helped me grow as a student, realizing that not everything is easy nor is college the same as high school. One must work to achieve success. Hard work is hard work for a reason, and everyone must put in the work to succeed.”
She was not alone in achieving that success.
Support from her “home away from home,” Alpha Xi Delta sorority, helped her succeed both in the classroom and in life. As president of ONU’s Alpha Xi Delta chapter, she says the sorority has made her a better leader, friend and person and has created lifelong friendships. “I have learned how to succeed, and I have had the enjoyment of others succeeding.” Her next goal is to continue her studies in order to sit for the CPA exam.
“This University exemplifies how a university should be,” she says. “Being a part of something that shows how people truly care about education and the future of its students is what makes me proud to be an ONU student.”
