Carly Mathewson

When Carly Mathewson was thinking about college, she couldn’t pick between her favorite subjects – biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and French. When she visited Ohio Northern, she found a beautiful campus and top-notch academics – plus the flexibility to continue her other passions.

“ONU allowed me to pursue all of my interests, from science to modern languages to music,” she says. Carly is majoring in chemistry and French with minors in physics and applied mathematics. Her passion is cool experiments with lasers, which landed her a material-science internship at Columbia University; she was one of only a handful of students to be accepted. Working with cutting-edge technology was incredible, but her most memorable moments have been bonding with other ONU choir members as they toured North Carolina and the British Isles. Sometimes you can have it all!
