Rwanda Legal Capacity Building
Rwanda Legal Capacity Building Activity
$347,353 USAID Cooperative Agreement
In March 2017, the Center for Democratic Governance and Rule of Law was awarded a $347,353 cooperative agreement by the United States agency for International Development to support legal capacity building in Rwanda via a thoroughly structured program designed to build the capacity of Rwandan judges, prosecutors, lawyers and legal researchers.
Administrators and faculty from the Pettit College of Law will administer the program in Rwanda by (1) developing and publishing practical skills manuals for judges, prosecutors and lawyers; (2) conducting training of trainers (TOT) for judges, prosecutors and lawyers; (3) supporting the trainers to teach other judges, prosecutors and lawyers; (4) developing and publishing three course books on Rwandan law; and (5) launching the Rwandan Law Review and assisting in publishing its first issue.
