ONU3-TV is our local access channel. Electronic Media and Broadcasting majors produce original programming for ONU3-TV, led by a staff of student managers. Programming runs eight weeks each semester. For specific show times, check out the ONU3-TV electronic bulletin board or the online schedule.
ONU3-TV is located in the broadcast area of the Freed Center at Ohio Northern University. Our edit room houses two linear editing systems. In addition, we have four Avid Media Composer non-linear editors housed in our television studio control room and five Final Cut Pro laptop editors and one Adobe Premiere edit system. The control room also has our Panasonic AV-HS400 video switcher, Sony and JVC camera control units, Mackie audio board, Grass Valley Turbo iDDR video playback/storage unit, 2 video playback decks, Compix CG, and 360 audio playback system for show production.
Adjacent to the control room is the television studio where you will find two Sony cameras, a DS-370L and a DSR-390L, along with a JVC studio camera. The studio serves the needs of our live news show and other live to tape shows. Our news set and anchor desk, designed and built by Curtis Elliott Designs, were placed into service in January, 2007. The set is versatile and the flip side serves as the back-drop for our talk shows.
Entry level students use our two Panasonic AG-DVX100A or our two AG-DVC60 camcorders. Intermediate level students our two Sony DSR-250 camcorders and our two JVC GY-HD100 HDV camcorders. Advanced level students use our Sony XDCAM EX3 tapeless camcorder. We also have several POV camcorders
Students edit using Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer software. They also learn DVD authoring using DVD Studio Pro.
Show preparation and meetings are held in shared space with WONB-FM. News script writing, show run-downs, and teleprompter scripts are all produced on Mac and PC computers, using our networked EZNews software in a virtual server set-up.
