Ohio Northern University was more than well represented at the Ohio Pharmacists Association’s (OPA) most recent annual conference. A considerable number of ONU pharmacy alumni and faculty received special honors, while four alumni were officially named to executive positions.

The OPA’s 142nd Annual Conference presented its awards virtually on Aug. 28-30, recognizing the contributions and accomplishments of several of its members. For the distinguished UNDER 40 awards, which honor young pharmacists for their professional achievements and vision in the practice of pharmacy, seven ONU alumni and one faculty member claimed eight out of the 10 total awards. The UNDER 40 honorees were Paul Casebolt, a 2006 graduate; Justin Coby, a 2007 graduate; Jason Martinez, a 2009 graduate; R. Logan Yoho, a 2010 graduate; Benjamin Aronson, assistant professor of social and administrative pharmacy; Alison Haas, a 2012 graduate; Catherine Kuhn, a 2006 graduate; and Bryce Lifer, a 2009 graduate.

In addition, Lauren Castle, a 2013 graduate, received the 2020 Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award. Other award recipients included 1992 alumnus Troy Gahm, who received the Bowl of Hygeia Award; 1981 alumnus Randy Myers, who received the Good Governance Award; and ONU faculty member Michelle Musser, who received the 2020 Pharmacist Public Relations Award.

Also during the conference, four ONU pharmacy alumni were officially installed to executive positions for OPA. Tod Grimm, a 1994 graduate, was installed as president and was also honored with a Leadership Award by the National Community Pharmacists Association. In addition, Aimee O’Reilly, a 2012 graduate, was installed as vice president; and Darla Gaiser and Denise Conway, 1973 and 2000 graduates, respectively, were installed as trustees.
