Business college gives Outstanding Service Award

Sep 29, 2015

Ohio Northern University’s Dicke College of Business Administration honored Paul C. Carbetta II, a 1990 graduate, with an Outstanding Service Award on Saturday, Sept. 25.

The award, given annually at Homecoming, honors individuals who have provided sustained and outstanding service to, and whose contributions have positively impacted, the Dicke College of Business Administration and Ohio Northern. This is the fifth year that Distinguished Alumni Awards have been presented by the college.

Carbetta is president of Comprehensive Wealth Partners, a financial advisory practice with Ameriprise Financial Services, based in Worthington, Ohio. The firm consists of 11 financial advisors and 11 support staff and continues to grow. It offers a wide range of financial planning and wealth management services to people from all economic backgrounds and at all stages of life, managing more than $800 million for their financial planning clients, researching more than 350,000 investments, and providing advice to more than 1,600 clients.

After graduating from Ohio Northern in 1990, Carbetta went in to the management-training program with JC Penney, which lasted 30 days until he was offered a stockbroker position in Columbus, Ohio.

In February 1992, Carbetta embraced the entrepreneurial spirit and was offered the opportunity to be a business owner as a registered representative of IDS Financial Services Inc. In October 2007, Carbetta spun off his previous partnership and established a new business model using horizontal leadership rather than a vertical hierarchy.

From 2008 through 2014, Carbetta received the Circle of Success Award, given to those individuals that rank in the top 570 out of 10,000 advisors around the country. The ranking is based on several criteria, such as service, client satisfaction and assets under management.

From 2011 to present, he has received the Chairman’s Advisory Council Award, which represents the top 90 Ameriprise Financial franchisees out of 7,500. This is awarded for service and commitment to providing the best financial advice and dedication to client needs. He currently ranks No. 7. Since 2011, Carbetta has been awarded and invited to be in Barron’s Winners Circle for Top Independent Advisors by Barron’s Magazine. He was recognized by Fidelity as part of its advisory council in 2011. This is awarded for support and relationship with clients and investment products.

In 2013, Carbetta was recognized by Columbus Monthly Magazine as a Five Star Wealth Manager, and in 2016 he will receive The Diamond Ring award as a continued member of the Ameriprise Circle of Success and Chairman’s Advisory Council. Recipients are recognized for a minimum of 13 years of achieving the highest-ranking service dedication to helping meeting client needs.

Carbetta is highly involved with ONU and his community. He is a past chair of the College of Business Administration Advisory Board and chair of the college’s annual Scholarship Golf Outing. He is a member of the Henry Solomon Lehr Society and helped teach Ohio Northern’s Dine for Success program from 1992-2001. Carbetta also has donated and volunteered in the Friendly House and Hidden Hollow Camp in Mansfield, Ohio, which provides scholarships for inner-city youth to go to camp. He has donated to the Capital Area Human Society, volunteered at the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, and supported the Wounded Warrior Project and Warriors to Work.

Carbetta and his wife, Leah, have three daughters, Kaylee, Olivia and Gianna.
