Dr. Bryan Boulanger is chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Ohio Northern University. Bryan is a past recipient of the US EPA’s Mission Award, a past US National Academy of Science Research Council Associate, and an International Dark Sky Association Delegate. He completed his PhD in civil and environmental engineering at the University of Iowa and undergraduate and masters work at the University of Connecticut. Bryan’s work focuses on developing tools and practices that decision makers can use to reduce the impact of artificial lightscapes on surrounding natural resources and human experience. His innovate lighting inventory and analysis tool, lighting designs, and design recommendations have been used to support decision making and improve natural lightscapes in national parks and communities across the US and Canada.

Dr. Blake Hylton is an assistant professor of mechanical engineering and coordinator of the First-Year Engineering Experience for the ONU College of Engineering. He completed his graduate studies in mechanical engineering at Purdue University. Prior to Purdue, he completed his undergraduate work at the University of Tulsa, also in mechanical engineering. Blake currently teaches first-year engineering courses as well as various courses in mechanical engineering, primarily in the mechanics area. His research areas include the structural dynamic properties of additively manufactured parts, the incorporation of engineering content into high school science classrooms, and the assessment and pedagogy of the entrepreneurial mindset in an engineering context

Mr. John Greenhalge is the executive director of the State Board of Registration for Engineers and Surveyors. John has been with the board since 1998, serving as director, enforcement supervisor and assistant executive director. Prior to joining the Board, he worked as an investigator for the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s office and as a loss prevention and human resources investigator for Sears Roebuck & Co. John has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and an MBA from Ashland University. He has served on numerous national committees for the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), and he is a recipient of the NCEES Distinguished Service Award for outstanding service to the Central Zone, NCEES and the engineering and surveying profession. John will bring an update from the state board, and document some of the effects that have been realized since the board’s implementation of required ethics training. He will also share some case studies, and field questions from attendees.

Cancellation Policy: If you cannot attend, please notify us by October 1, 2019 and we will refund your fee. Cancellations after this date and no-shows are subject to a $25 administration fee. Participants may enroll substitutes any time before the course starts.
