Presented by the ONU Law Black Law Students Association

Political diversity is part of the foundation of our country; however, with diverse views comes an issue of intolerance. The ONU Law 2021 Diversity Forum will look at the controversial topic of censorship and its effect on freedom of speech, from both Democrat and Republican perspectives. The topic of censorship will be related to the concept of “cancel culture” and the different viewpoints surrounding this practice. Cancel culture can conflict with principles of the First Amendment, as it involves publicly withdrawing support for an individual or group after they have said something that may not be socially accepted. Diversity Forum panelists will address whether there can be a line between cancel culture and still holding the principles of the First Amendment, and whether cancel culture needs to be addressed or limited.

Panelists include:

Rachel Citak, Owner & Attorney at Law

Rachel R. Citak, Attorney at Law, LLC

Ashton Hood, Assistant Attorney General

Ohio Attorney General's Office, Collections Enforcement Section

James Gravely, Juris Doctor Candidate, Spring 2023

University of Cincinnati College of Law

The Diversity Forum will be hosted via Zoom.
