English Department Reading Series featuring Mindy McGinnis
The Departments of Education and English welcome novelist and young adult author Mindy McGinnis to campus on Monday, April 15th, for a reading, reception and Q & A.
Mindy McGinnis is a multi-genre writer from central Ohio. A graduate of Otterbein University, she is the author of the post-apocalyptic fiction duo Not a Drop to Drink and In a Handful of Dust, the first of which has been optioned for film. She is also the winner of the 2015 Edgar Award for the novel A Madness So Discreet. Her young adult contemporary novel The Female of the Species was a 2016 RT Reviewers Choice Award, and her most recent novel, Heroine (March 2019), out from Harper Collins, investigates the opioid crisis through the eyes of a college-bound softball star.
Mindy will read alongside senior creative writing and Spanish double major Via D'Agostino. The event will begin at 7pm in the Wilson Art Center Elzay Gallery and will be preceded by a catered reception at 6:30 and followed by a Q & A session. The event is co-sponsored by the Department of English, the Department of Education, the Center for Teacher Education (CTE), and the Cultural and Special Events Committee. The event is free and open to the public, and supported with a generous gift from Phil Oleson, BSPh '66, and Mary (Monstwil) Oleson, BSPh '70.
