Musical Theatre (Major)

The Ohio Northern University Department of Theatre Arts and the Department of Music performed "The Pirates of Penzance" as the 2017 spring musical.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theatre gives you pre-professional training within a liberal arts framework. You’ll study theatre, music and dance and complete a strong core of liberal arts courses. The curriculum and performance opportunities will prepare you for a career in musical theatre or advanced training at the graduate level. You’ll be evaluated each semester through vocal and performance juries and rigorous classroom experiences.

Program highlights:

  • You won’t compete against graduate students for stage roles or classes; our program is solely focuses on undergraduate students.
  • With an average of 12 students per professor, you’ll receive individualized attention.
  • You’ll become proficient in acting, singing and dance and build confidence in your ability to compete with a large number of performers seeking employment.
  • You can audition for productions the first semester of your freshman year.
  • You can double major and minor in another discipline within the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • You can study abroad with a variety of international opportunities.
  • You will meet and learn from a large number of nationally and internationally renowned professionals who will visit campus to direct, choreograph and teach workshops and master classes.
