Career paths

A degree in philosophy, PPE, religion or youth ministry gives you flexibility in your career path. You will graduate with knowledge and skills that are valued in the marketplace and needed in leadership and management positions, such as the ability to think ethically and critically, to solve problems, and to communicate effectively.

Our religion majors often take the path to seminary. Our youth ministry majors usually launch careers working with young people at a nonprofit or congregation, and some also choose seminary. Our PPE and philosophy majors often opt for graduate school or law school. In recent years, our graduates have been accepted into Ohio State University, the University of Toledo, the University of Twente in the Netherlands, and ONU’s Pettit College of Law.

Here are just a few places where you could carve out a successful career:

  • Federal, state or local governments
  • Church or religious organizations
  • Nonprofits
  • Profession associations
  • Universities
  • For-profit corporations
  • Newspapers or media organizations
  • PR or marketing firms
  • Management firms
  • Law firms
  • Health care management
