The 2018 East Lakes Division of the American Association of Geographers Annual Meeting

Members of the Department of History, Political Science and Geography and the College of Business Administration invite you to participate in the Annual Meeting of the East Lakes Division of the American Association of Geographers at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio. The conference will start with an evening reception at The Inn on Thursday, Oct. 18, and will continue with the full-day conference on Friday, Oct. 19. Main conference events will take place in McIntosh Center.

Most people visiting Ada travel by automobile, and directions can be found here. If you are not staying at The Inn, free parking is available at the McIntosh Center and the Freed Center. A campus map can be found here.

The closest airports to Ada are the John Glenn Columbus International Airport and the Dayton International Airport.

Abstract Submission Information

The deadline for submitting abstracts is Oct. 7, 2018. Following AAG guidelines, paper presentations will be 15 minutes long with a few minutes for questions. Each paper session will have up to five presentations.

Posters will be displayed on easels that can accommodate a poster up to 36" x 48" (3' x 4'). The host institution will provide easels for poster presentations.

Departments are encouraged to reserve tables by Oct. 7, 2018, to display information about their programs. To reserve a table, please email Dr. Jimmy Wilson or Dr. Katy Rossiter.


Student Paper and Poster Competitions for the East Lakes Division

All ELDAAG students presenting at the conference are eligible to participate in the Student Presentation Competition, with cash awards and certificates for the top three oral paper and poster presentations by undergraduate and graduate students. Within each competition, undergraduates will be judged separately from graduate (MA/MS and Ph.D.) students. Please submit your abstracts through the Conference Registration link. When registering for the conference, students who are presenting their research will see a check box to select whether or not they wish to participate in either the paper or poster competition. Students who enter papers and posters in the competition will present the morning of Friday, Oct. 19, so that the results of the competitions can be announced at the luncheon. Additional rules can be found using the ELDAAG Student Paper and Poster Competition link.

Ada's football factory

Field Trip

Join us Thursday, Oct. 18, at 1:30 p.m. before our reception to take a tour of the Wilson Football Factory. This is the last football factory in the U.S. Each year, they hand craft every NFL pre-, regular- and post-season game ball, including every Super Bowl ball ever made. They also make many thousands of collegiate, high school and other footballs.

The tour is free and lasts about an hour. There is a small gift shop with items available for purchase at the end of the tour. Attendees should meet in the parking lot of The Inn to caravan to the factory.

Please indicate on your conference registration if you plan to attend the field trip. The field trip is limited to 20 attendees.
