Meet the Young Alumni Council

The Ohio Northern Young Alumni Council strives to serve as an ambassador for ONU to advocate for the advancement interests of ONU, and to foster relationships between ONU Annual Giving. We are working to identify a group of dynamic and highly-involved young alumni.

Council members:

Michael Storey, PharmDMichael Storey, PharmD ’10

Following graduation from ONU, I did a two year pharmacy residency in pharmacy administration at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center, where I also earned a Master of Science degree. I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I currently work at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, as the Coordinator of Medication Use and Formulary Management, which mostly means I deal with high cost drugs and coordinate a few committees. Previously, I was in an operations manager role at Nationwide Children’s, including oncology management. My professional interests include compounding compliance (USP 795, 797, 800, etc), reimbursement of high cost medications and creating patient access for innovative therapies. At ONU, I serve on the College of Pharmacy Advisory Board.

I am very excited to be a part of the committee. I loved my experience at ONU so much that I jumped at the opportunity to accept a position as an admissions counselor at the University. I am an avid basketball fan and played at ONU during my time as a student on both the volleyball and basketball team. I now have aspirations of becoming a head women’s college basketball coach. I live in Findlay, Ohio, with my fellow Polar Bear fiancé and two pretty pups, a lab and a hound. Of all the inner workings of life, the two things remain the most important to me are faith and family.

Matthew Tupps, PharmDMatthew Tupps, PharmD ’09

After graduating from ONU in 2009, I starting working at the University of Michigan Health System, now called Michigan Medicine.  Since then, I have held multiple different roles inside the pharmacy department and worked with multiple different patient populations. All of these experiences created a desire to pursue a master’s degree in healthcare administration and I currently work as a pharmacy manager with oversight of central operations and sterile production. My professional interested include the use of automation to increase safety and efficiency in sterile compounding and the use of technology to streamline work processes and increase productivity. When I am not working I have a strong passion for scuba diving, both exploring new wrecks and teaching others how to safely experience the underwater world.  During my time at ONU, I was active in both the band and Men's Chorus as well as an active member of President's club.

Courtney (Hetrick) Schkurko, BSEECourtney (Hetrick) Schkurko, BSEE ’13

I graduated from ONU with an Electrical Engineering degree and biomedical and applied math minors. I currently work for Rockwell Automation as a control hardware engineering designing new products for the Low Voltage Drives business. While at ONU, I was actively involved in Tau Beta Pi, and the Society of Women Engineers. I also competed on the swim team and worked for the Office of Career Services helping students prepare for job interviews. In the summer of 2017, I married the love of my life and we bought a house in Bay Village, Ohio. Outside of work we enjoy exploring new places and we both actively compete and train for triathlons.

Even though I currently live in Richland, N.C., ONU is never far from my heart. I am so excited to serve on the Young Alumni Committee, and am looking forward to helping strengthen the bond young alumni have with ONU. I have turned my affinity for fundraising, which began at ONU as a Phonathon caller, into a career. I am currently the director of annual giving for the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Plain in North Carolina.

After graduating with my bachelor's degree in accounting, I completed my master's degree in forensic accounting and auditing at ONU as well. While at ONU, I played football and was involved in many clubs around campus such as Beta Alpha Psi and the Institute of Management Accountants. Immediately following graduation, I served a year as the director of ONU's masters of accounting program and as an adjunct professor of finance. Currently, I am a CPA working for the largest public accounting firm in the world, Deloitte LLP in Cleveland, Ohio. I work as an external audit analyst with many large public and privately held companies and still stay serve as an adjunct professor of finance in the James F. Dicke College of Business, which I really enjoy! In my spare time, my fiancé and I love spending time outdoors, and with friends and family.
