WONB-FM strives to be a primary source for news, sports, weather, public affairs, and entertainment in West Central Ohio. WONB’s primary musical formats showcase the best of yesterday through today. Sunday listeners are also treated to smooth jazz and gospel sounds.

WONB 94.9FM is a non-commercial radio station licensed to Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.  WONB serves a potential audience of over 325,000 people in West Central Ohio. WONB airs over 30,000 public service announcements each year, over 100 newscasts each week, and provides coverage of various Ohio Northern University and Ada High Scholl athletic events.

Working with and learning from broadcasting professionals, ONU students serve as WONB news and sports writers, anchors and reporters; as well as producers and hosts of programs and as WONB promotion specialists. Students also write and produce public service announcements for community and non-profit organizations.

WONB is affiliated with several highly recognized and well-respected media organizations including the National Association of Broadcasters, the Ohio Association of Broadcasters, the Broadcast Education Association, and College Broadcasters, Inc. 

A snapshot of some of WONB’s awards:

2016 - WONB's OAC Show #4 placed 1st in the Broadcast Education Association's 2-Year/Small College audio division. The student hosts and producers were Brett Wonders & John Kramer.

2015 – WONB’s ONU football vs. Muskingum broadcast was awarded 2nd place in the Broadcast Education Association’s 2-Year/Small College audio division.  The student game broadcasters were Brett Wonders & Dan Knapinski.

2007 – WONB’s ONU football game broadcast opener received an Honorable Mention from the National Broadcasting Society in the Audio Sports Segment category. The student producer was Matt Schimmoeller.

2007 – WONB’s ONU football play-by-play team received the Grand Prize in the National Broadcasting Society’s Audio Sports Play-by-Play contest. Matt Schimmoeller and Seth Castle were the game announcers.

2007 – WONB’s Big 9 at 9 program received an Honorable Mention in the Radio Magazine Category from the National Broadcasting Society. The show’s student hosts and producers were Lia Hileman and Matt Schimmoeller.

2007 – WONB was awarded Grand Prize for Community Clips, a weekly public affairs program, from the National Broadcasting Society. Emmy Llewellyn was the 2007 student host.

2003 – WONB was awarded Grand Prize for Community Clips, a weekly public affairs program, from the National Broadcasting Society. The 2003 student host was Nichole Weitz.

2002 – WONB’s PSA Celebrating 10 Years received an Honorable Mention from the National Broadcasting Society in the Audio Commercials/Promos/PSAs category. Dave Crosser was the student producer.

1995 – WONB received an Honorable Mention from the Associated Press of Ohio for its sports operation.

1994 – The Associated Press of Ohio awarded WONB first place honors for its overall sports operation.
