Making the world a better place, starting with Ada
Chad Bridges, a senior in biology from Farmington Hills, Mich., has a passion to make the world a better place.
His capstone research discovered that excess food waste, generated by both the University and the village, is creating unnecessary stress on the village’s wastewater treatment center. One option to remedy this could be a composting facility dedicated specifically to food waste. With the cooperation of Ada Village Council, he wrote an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grant request for a food-waste composting project.
“I’m thankful I was able to attend Ohio Northern University, where both the administrative staff and the professors support students and their passions in life,” he says. “One of my greatest passions has always been how I can make the world a better place. I believe food-waste composting is one small way both the village of Ada and the University can make the world better.”
