Setbacks don’t mean the game’s over!
Don’t give up! It’s something Jacob Crowley learned in the classroom as well as on the football field. This accounting major says football is his greatest passion outside of academics. In fact, he lettered in 2012 and 2014, and he’s now acting as assistant defensive-line coach for ONU’s team. But it was an illness during his sophomore year that almost sidelined him.
“After sitting out a semester, I had thoughts of not returning,” he admits. “But with the help of accounting faculty, I came back to ONU. This experience taught me a lot. Most importantly, never stop something that you started, and hard work and determination pay off.”
It’s paid off so well that he has accepted a job with Deloitte, the largest public accounting firm in the world, and his new dream is to some day make partner. “ONU has helped me a tremendous amount both academically and socially in realizing my goal,” he says.
