So far, there’s been Orlando and Las Vegas. Next up, it’s Washington, D.C. That’s where Thomas McArdle is headed with his Society for the Advancement of Management (SAM) team. The business management major is part of a five-member team that spends months analyzing the problems and opportunities that real companies face. They come up with solutions and present their ideas in national competitions. It’s one way that business concepts are brought to life for ONU students.
But it’s also just one of the ways McArdle is building his business résumé. He takes part in the Institute of Management Accounts, the Student Investment Group, the honors program and Student Senate. His internship added to his experience with sales, purchasing, warehouse management and process improvement. And his on-campus leadership roles add to the balance. Then there is club soccer to keep him well-rounded.
“I used to play football for ONU, but a concussion sent me into early retirement,” he jokes. It also gave him more time to seek leadership positions in his professional organizations.
