Holiday Host Program
International Student Services is excited to offer the Holiday Host Program for our international students and the area community!
Our goal is to connect current ONU international students with local families and community members who are willing to open their homes to international students during the holiday breaks (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter). Celebrations could include Thanksgiving meals, events and family gatherings, weekend trips, or simply hanging out. Duration and amount of interaction can be decided between the student and the family.
This program is designed to give our international students an opportunity to experience traditional U.S. family life (even if you don't consider your family "traditional") and to participate in U.S. customs and traditions that surround our holidays. Not only will the students learn more about typical American life, but they would love to share some of their culture with you!
Applications for this year are open!
Some students will travel over the break, so dates, times, and length of stay are all negotiable. Families can host for a meal, for a weekend, or the whole week! Plans and arrangements, including transportation, will be made between the family and the student(s) once you are matched.
HOW IT WORKS:
Interested families submit an application, the international students submit applications, and we match you according to the info you specified on your applications, to the best of our abilities. Then you will be contacted with the name and contact information of your "match" so you can make plans that work for both of you.
Applications are due by December 12, 2014.
