Additional Information and Tips
Prior to Education Expo:
Review Job Fair and Interview Tips
On the Day of the Fair:
Arrive early to park, check-in, and familiarize yourself with the materials in your Welcome Packet, including the floor layout so you can plan your strategy to meet with your preferred school districts and be ready to begin at 8:00 a.m.
Everyone must check-in to receive a Welcome Packet and name tag. Each university/college will have a designated table where their candidates can wait between interviews, organize notes, and leave personal items when meeting with recruiters during Open Fair and interviews.
During the Open Fair and Scheduled Interviews:
Be prepared to meet recruiters beginning at 8:00 a.m. Once the Open Fair period is over, you will not be able to speak with recruiters unless you have a scheduled interview.
The purpose of the Open Fair is to introduce yourself to recruiters from school districts you are interested in and to schedule an interview. You may approach any school district - regardless of whether or not they are seeking your licensure area. It is at the sole discretion of the recruiter as to whether or not you are granted an interview on the day of the fair.
Lunch: 12:10 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Lunch is not provided for candidates. Local dining options will be included in the Welcome Packet.
After the Event:
If asked to complete an online application form for a district, be sure to do so within 72 hours.
Send a letter (or e-mail) as soon as possible to recruiters you met thanking them for the opportunity to meet with them at Education Expo. Include your resume, as well as any supporting documents requested and reiterate points about why you are qualified and interested in the position. A letter writing guide will be provided to you or ask your Career Services office for assistance. If sending letters to recruiters from the same district vary the content so you are not sending the same letter to each person.
Evaluate your performance to determine how well you did and where you might need to improve your interview skills.
