Placement Test Information
- ALL STUDENTS who have foreign language requirements (see list on reverse) MUST TAKE AND PASS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE COURSE to satisfy the requirements.
- The PLACEMENT EXAM is a tool to determine placement level only. NO CREDIT is awarded for a score on the placement exam. We strongly recommend that all students who will take a foreign language at ONU take the placement exam.
- All students regardless of major or degree requirements are ELIGIBLE FOR RETROACTIVE CREDITS for all courses BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE first COURSE satisfactorily COMPLETED AT ONU.

Retro-placement: Satisfies the foreign language requirement. Counts towards the foreign language major and minor. Does NOT count towards graduation.
Retro-credits:Student must pay a one-time administrative processing fee of $44.00. Satisfies the foreign language requirement. Counts towards a foreign language major and minor. Counts towards graduation.
Students are encouraged to enroll at the level at which they feel most comfortable. Modern Languages faculty will provide assistance based on high school background and placement exam results. The department recommends that students begin foreign language study during their first year at ONU.
