The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), as amended,
provides students the following rights with respect to their
educational record:
- The right to review and inspect their individual educational
records.
- The right to request amendment to the educational record to
ensure that they are not inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise
in violation of the student's privacy or other rights.
- The right to consent to disclosures of personally identifiable
information contained in the educational record, except to the
extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
Requests for nondisclosure
apply to all directory information,
must be made in writing to the Registrar's Office, and remain
in effect until rescinded, in writing, by the student.
- The right to file with the Ohio Northern University FERPA Compliance officer a
complaint concerning alleged failures to comply with the
requirements of FERPA.
