Winter Career Fair
ONU hosts 111 recruiters at the largest winter career fair to date.
Ohio Northern University’s office of career services, Polar Careers, continued to provide students with an impressive array of companies, graduate schools and non-profit organizations at the 2014 Winter Career Fair held at the ONU Field House on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
The 111 employers/graduate schools were the most ever to attend a winter event. An ONU record 165 employers attend the fall career fair event last September. All career fairs provide students with networking opportunities in the morning, and opportunities to interview with firms in the afternoon. At the winter fair, 63 ONU students interviewed for positions, internships or co-op experiences, with more agreeing to on-site interviews at a later date.
Engineers appeared to be particularly in demand with more than half of the recruiters actively seeking those majors. HAWA Incorporated, an engineering consulting firm from Columbus, Ohio, attended its first career fair at ONU today.
“We came her today because we are looking for the right kind of engineer. We know we can find what we are looking for here at ONU,” says Ned Heminger, principal partner at HAWA.
More praise for the 2014 Winter Career Fair:
“I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to participate at the ONU Career Fair yesterday. The Xanitos Table had a great turn out. The students were very well-dressed and informed. I was very impressed by everyone I met. Thank you too for the lovely accommodations at the Inn on campus and the hospitality at the Career Fair. Well done!”

“On behalf of GSW, I want to thank you and the Ohio Northern University Polar Careers staff for running and administrating the Career and Graduate/Professional School Fair. Not only was this a great event, but we had the chance to meet and connect with some of ONU’s brightest students. We love the education, experience and insight that your Pharmaceutical Business students are receiving. It was a pleasure to be a part of this event and we look forward to attending the Pharmacy Career Fair on October 1, 2014. Thank you once again.”

“As first timers we were very impressed by the number and quality of the companies represented. For us this was a big indicator of the quality of the event and the ONU students. The overall organization and professionalism of the event was top quality. When we got to meet and interact with the students, our impressions on the quality of your students were reinforced. All the students expressing interest in Accubuilt were professional and well prepared. We met 16 fine young people yesterday, half of which are well qualified to fill our needs for engineering co-ops and interns, so we’ll have a tough task picking one or two. Later at lunch, we met another firm, who were similarly impressed. They have been coming for a few years and have hired ONU students with great success and satisfaction.”
