Freed Center Hosts Rigging and Sound Training
The Joint Training Initiative of The ESTA Foundation and USITT's theatre rigging and digital sound board training sessions will be held Jan. 8-10 at Ohio Northern University. The event will be hosted and produced by the Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts.
This three-day schedule of courses is designed for entertainment technicians at a basic to intermediate level. The digital sound board session will be held on Friday, Jan. 8 with the theatre rigging sessions being presented Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 9 and 10. All sessions will be held at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.
The sound courses will be conducted by Todd J. Mitchell and Cliff Fuller of Great Lakes Sound in Toledo, Ohio. The rigging courses will be taught by Bill Sapsis of Sapsis Rigging, Lansdowne, Pa. Sapsis is an ETCP certified rigger as well as an ETCP recognized trainer. Upon completion of the rigging course, students will qualify for renewal credits for ETCP Certified Arena and Theatre Riggers.
