Spring Band Festival

Hosting high school instrumentalist from all around Ohio, Ohio Northern University will hold its 35th annual Spring Band Festival May 7-9. This year’s event features the work of guest director Patrick Burns, including a piece commissioned by Kappa Kappa Psi in memory of Edwin and Rosemary Williams, former music department chairman and his wife.

The commissioned piece “Always We Begin Again” actually includes elements of Rosemary Williams work. The piece also honors Edwin Williams, whom the first annual Spring Band Festival started under. Edwin served as the department chairman for over twenty years.

The Ohio Northern University Wind Orchestra will open the festival on May 7 at 8 p.m. performing selected works by Burns, as well as movements from De Meij’s Lord of the Rings Symphony and Joaquin Rodrigo’s famous Adagio for Winds. There will be a pre-show discussion at 7:15 p.m.
