Orientation Leaders (OLs) are a group of energetic, dedicated and fun leaders who know first hand what it's like to be a new student at ONU. Each student will be in a group with 15-20 students and an OL. Your OL will be your guide throughout the opening weekend to help you know where to go, answer any questions and get adjusted to life at Northern!

Favorite Moment/Memory of ONU: At some point towards the end of my freshman year, my older brother and younger sister came up to visit. As I was showing them around campus, I had countless friends and classmates stop to say hi, professors would wave or have a question for me. At one point during all of this, my brother had turned to my sister jokingly and said “Wow, it’s like she really actually lives here all the time and knows people and stuff.” I think it was at that moment that I finally realized just how well I fit at ONU.
Favorite Orientation Memory/Moment: I don’t recall why it ended up this way, but one of the meals that first weekend – I want to say dinner – I ended up sitting alone at the end of a table at Mac. I still didn’t really know anyone at that point, at least no one to go seek out to have dinner with, and I had just sat down with food when three of the people from my core group “pounced” on me. One of those three by far is still my best friend on campus. I don’t think I ever got away with sitting by myself for a meal at Mac after that.

Favorite Moment/Memory of ONU: Orientation weekend my sophomore year as an RA. I felt like an experienced veteran as I led my residents around campus to various events. It was great to be able to reassure them that Northern would provide them with many great memories.
Favorite Orientation Memory/Moment: At Greekapalooza, I tentatively approached the dunk tank and saw a cute baseball player sitting in it.
