What is the IEEE?

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is an international non-profit professional organization devoted to the advancement of technology and education related to electricity. Its 365,000 members in 150 countries make IEEE the largest professional society in the world.

Membership

Membership in the Institute brings members access to the industry's most essential technical information, networking opportunities, career development tools, and many other exclusive benefits. Full year student membership costs $30, plus any additional society memberships. More information about IEEE Membership can be found at the IEEE website.

Student Membership

Currently there are over 68,000 student members of IEEE, representing over 1400 student branches at universities in 80 countries. More information about Student Membership in IEEE can be found on the membership page or at the IEEE website.

IEEE Societies

Perhaps one of the most beneficial aspects of IEEE are its technical societies, designed to link professionals (and students) who work in similar branches of the technology field. Each of the 39 societies provides additional information, publications, and networking connections to other engineers. More information about IEEE Technical Societies can be found at the IEEE website.
