We arrived Saturday evening around 11:00 PM and got settled in. On Sunday morning we toured the homes ONU Habitat has built over the last 13 years and attended church services. In the afternoon we went to a park and ice skating. The day was wrapped up with apple and peach cobbler...yum. Our first day of work was very productive. We are working on two houses. One is further along in construction then the other. The walls and trusses are now up on the second house. It is great to get to work and see Craig Phillips, an ONU alumn working with the Metro Jackson Habitat Affiliate through AmeriCore. We look forward to starting work at 8 AM tomorrow morning!

Today was another successful day at the worksite. We finished shingling one house, and laid the plywood on the second roof. Siding was finished on the first house, and much paint-work was completed. The second house was insulated with blue-board, and then wrapped in Tyvek house wrap. It was a hot day today (about 75 F) and we all stayed well hydrated. After work, Mr. Metzner (the CEO of the Baptist Hospital) graciously let us eat at his hospital. The food was delicious! Last night we held an "UnBirthday Party" for Habitat, and tonight we will be having a card tournament, followed by ice cream sundaes. We look forward to a busy day tomorrow! God bless.

Today was a big day on the work site. We finished siding on the first house, and almost finished it on the second. Both roofs got shingled, and windows were put in the second house. The first and second coats of paint were applied to the inside walls of the first house. A shed was also built for the first house. After work we went to the mall!!

Today was a productive day as well, but was cut short by heavy rain. Facia and siding were being put on the second house when at around 11:15 the rain caused the crew to tell most of our volunteers to take the rest of the day off. 17 volunteers remained in the first house to paint trim, doors, and shutters. Cabinets were stained in the house, and underlayment for the ceramic tile was put down. For dinner we are eating at the Baptist hospital, and have made a nice card for Mr. Metzner (the CEO). Crawdads will be provided for tonight, and the crew of the Jackson Affiliate has been invited. Also, two photo-scrapbooks are in the works for the homeowners, and we hope to present them at the worksite tomorrow.
