Communication Studies

Degrees Offered

A Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies; a minor is also offered.

The concentration may be combined with a second major, a minor, or a Business Option for a focus that is directed toward a student’s specific career interest.

Facilities

The Smith Educational Wing of the Freed Center for the Performing Arts is home to classes in Communication Studies. The facility includes classrooms with a complete array of audio-visual capabilities, a computer lab, and radio and TV studios.

 

Opportunities

Graduates find employment opportunities in such areas as personnel, sales, human services, training and development, management, government, politics, education, student affairs and non-profit management. The program also prepares students for graduate school and may qualify students for Ohio Northern’s pre-law program, which can lead to admission to ONU’s Pettit College of Law.

Our graduates have attended the University of Kentucky, The Ohio State University, Purdue University, Ohio University, Bowling Green State University, Kent State University and many other top notch communications programs throughout the country.

Janet Pacanowski (BA 2011) is an income development representative for the American Cancer Society in Chicago.

Elizabeth Betts (BA 2011) is a relationship and events manager for the Alzheimer's Association in Louisville, K.Y.

Tiffanie Shanks (BA 2011) is a program and resource assistant for discipleship resources for the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church in Columbus, O.H.

Drew Roby (BA 2012) is a customer service representative for Reynolds and Reynolds in Dayton, O.H.
