ONU to Host Relay for Life

Apr 2, 2008
Ohio Northern University will sponsor Relay for Life, an 18-hour walk to raise money for the fight against cancer, beginning Friday, April 25, at 6 p.m. through Saturday, April 26, at noon. The walk will take place on Northern's Tundra.

As the signature event of the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life gathers teams of individuals from campus and community organizations to camp out and take turns walking or running around the track. The event remembers loved ones lost to cancer and raises awareness of the illness.

Relay for Life will celebrate cancer survivors with music, food, games and prizes, as well as a luminary ceremony and other activities that raise awareness of cancer prevention, early detection, treatment and patient support.

Those interested in forming faculty and staff teams, as well as different sports teams, are urged to contact Robin White at r-white.5@onu.edu or Kyle Stinehart at k-stinehart@onu.edu. Before the event, teams are asked to raise money to support the American Cancer Society. Cancer survivors also are encouraged to be represented and honored at the event.
