ONU’s Music Department to Present Faculty Chamber Recital

The Ohio Northern University music department will present an afternoon of chamber ensemble music on Sunday, March 9, at 3 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

The concert will feature faculty members Lucinda Altstaetter, flute; Linda Sycks, oboe; and Jennifer Yost, bassoon. They will be joined by Mary Jane Eichelberger, piano and organ; Dean Altstaetter, keyboard; and Jason Yost, saxophone. The program also will feature faculty and students in the ONU Flute Choir and the ONU Double Reed Ensemble.

Concert selections will include works by Vivaldi, Lully, Braga, Held and Bizet. Three of Lucinda Altstaetter's students, Jacquelyn Ratcliffe, senior music performance major from Valley City, Ohio; Virginia Abernathy, senior music composition major from Beavercreek, Ohio; and Kara Stechschulte, a 2007 graduate from Columbus Grove, Ohio; will join her in a piece by Doppler.

Dean Altstaestter will premier a new piece of his own composition, titled "Ice Crusher," which written about the impressive ice storm that struck campus in January 2005.

The recital is free and open to the public.
