ONU Artist Series presents Dr. Chan Park
The Ohio Northern University Artist Series will present an evening of Korean P'ansori with Dr. Chan Park on Wednesday, March 28 at 8 p.m. in the Snyder Recital Hall in Presser Hall.
The event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Park is currently an associate professor of Korean language, literature and performance studies at The Ohio State University. Her specialization is the transnational research and performance of Korean P'ansori, or Korean story-singing. She also focuses on the related oral narrative, lyrical and dramatic traditions and their place in shaping modern Korean drama.
Dr. Park has published on the theory and practice of oral narratology and its interdisciplinary connection with arts and humanities, including her recent monograph, Voices from the Straw Mat: Toward an Ethnography of Korean Story Singing. She has also given several lectures, seminars, workshops and performances nationally and internationally.
