Continuing Legal Education Offered at ONU

The Ohio Northern University chapter of Phi Alpha Delta will sponsor its annual CLE event at the ONU College of Law on Oct. 13, 2006. The event entitled, “Avoiding Wrongful Convictions in Criminal Cases,” will include presentations on false confessions, faulty defense counsel practices, eyewitness identification procedures, and forensic science issues.

The continuing legal education program, which runs from 1:00 p.m. - 5:15 p.m., features experts in the criminal law and forensic areas. Victor L. Streib, professor of law at Ohio Northern University, is nationally recognized for his work and research on the death penalty, and Dr. Dennis DeLuca, associate professor of biological and allied health sciences and coordinator of the forensic biology major and forensic internship program at Ohio Northern University, is a consultant to DNA forensic laboratories and previously worked as a forensic scientist and DNA analyst for the Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office.

Deadline for registration is Oct. 4, 2006. Participants will receive a copy of the American Bar Association's major report, "Achieving Justice: Freeing the Innocent, Convicting the Guilty," as part of their registration fee. Additional details available at www.law.onu.edu
